Diary 001

MARCH

There is a voice inside telling me to leave
It started as a whisper
Bubbling beneath the surface
Hushed, at first, by the sweet comfort of home, of welcoming faces and the safety of familiarity
But now that voice is screaming
It is fuelled by wanderlust, I admit
This voice is not new
The voice has always been inside
It can be appeased by trips away
But it will always return
Louder and fiercer than ever

Words for Berlin

This day last year, New Year's Day, was not my favourite, for multiple reasons. Although I knew the hazy dullness I felt surrounding me was just temporary, I still felt undeniably stagnant in my life. Rather than wallow in pity and feed whatever was already desperately trying to pull me down, I decided to make the most of the opportunities afforded to us on the first day of the year and make a New Year's resolution that I would happily stick to. I promised myself I would go on a trip away from home at least once a month in 2017, satisfying my wanderlust and giving my mind and body the chance to breath and rejuvenate more frequently.

Words for London

Walking around London last weekend, I realised the specific peace that comes over my being while in the city.

A love letter to Germany

Dear Deutschland,

Do you mind if I call you Germany?
I think it would save us both the embarrassment of my butchering your name
Even if your people don't seem to mind my feeble attempts at pronunciation
I am rather lacking in the language department
(Irish doesn't get you very far outside our island.)
But speaking of your people,
Not only does your blood run through the veins of some of my own most loved
The inhabitants of your lands have shown nothing but
friendship, understanding, and welcome
Giving any 'Irish charm' a run for it's money.

She roams

I have a gypsy soul and a travellers spirit
I have wandered this planet of ours for as long as I can remember

I went away.

I went away.

I spent a year in New York.
I met people and saw places that have changed me forever.

I was there to study, which I did.
But I learnt far more than any book or professor could ever teach me.

Stolen Moments | Germany

Hello loves,
I went to Germany in July with my family for a week and am only now getting around to posting these pictures *blogger fail*

We first stayed in the beautiful mountain region of Garmisch- Partenkirchen, which is right on the border of Austria so we popped back and forth between the two.

I have never fallen in love with a country so deeply! Germany is full of charm and allure. From the friendly people to the scrumptious food, it excelled all my expectations.

Stolen Moments

College life is in full swing. I have moved across the country - not that big of a deal in Ireland, but it still sounds cool!
I've been feeling quite inspired creatively lately, possibly all the reading I've had to do - hello English and New Media degree.
So I've decided to start my own little mini series type of thing called...Stolen Moments.
Just moments in my life that would usually go unnoticed, but that I am now trying to appreciate.
I find it quite sad that things that are actually quite beautiful are overlooked or considered mundane, simply because they are part of our everyday lives.
And so without further rambling *come on Rachel* here is part 1 of Stolen Moments.
